USA Video posts new website showcasing technology USA Video Interactive Corp US Shares issued 54,384,088 Mar 24 close $0.62 Thu 25 Mar 99 News Release Mr. Tony Castagno reports The company has posted a revised website at www.usvo.com, featuring demonstrations of its new wavelet compression technology, descriptions of its patented Video-on-Demand technology, descriptions of targeted markets, and an overview of upcoming business plans. The company's wavelet compression technology is shown in slides that contrast it to MPEG compression. A full motion demonstration of the technology is being developed for later inclusion on the website. The company offers its customers the choice of MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 or its new wavelet compression technology, but the website pictures demonstrate why the wavelet compression technology is recommended. The technology allows very high levels of compression (up to 1000 to 1) while retaining much higher resolution than methods used by competitors. This allows far more material to be stored on a server or CD-ROM at a significantly lower cost. At the request of the Alberta Stock Exchange, the company is restating that it has begun a pilot program of digitizing the most popular videos in a library of 14,000 educational videos housed at LEARN, which provides technology and other services in Connecticut to six regional education service centres, 120 schools and more than 49,000 students. There are some 550 similar regional education centres throughout the United States. The videos at LEARN and the other regional education service centres are owned by several companies and licenced to the centres. The company is in active negotiations with a number of these companies to digitize their educational videos. These negotiations are continuing, details will be announced shortly. The company is moving from research and development to a marketing phase, and currently there are no revenues. (c) Copyright 1999 Canjex Publishing Ltd. canada-stockwatch.com |
