That was mature, Maurice.

Here's a puzzle: take a look at the share price development of Motorola and Lucent (the world's leading CDMA manufacturers and supposed frontrunners in the CDMA2000 development).

Then compare those numbers to the price changes of Noka and Ericy (world's leading GSM manufacturers and developers of W-CDMA). Spot the difference? Spin is spin - the market makes the decision on who won and how much.

As I write this Nokia is up by 3,7% and Qualcomm is up by 9,7%. This is it? This is the compensation Qcom stockholders get for the company's underperformance during the last two years? You're welcome to it. Congratulations for people who bought QCOM during January -99. They are sharp customers - if they know when to fold it.

Just for kicks, calculate how much Wall Street is adding to Ericsson's market cap by boosting the stock by 7,4% in response to the CDMA deal. Compare that to how much Wall Street is adding to Qualcomm's market cap by boosting it by 9,4%.

I'd like to here what tortured logic can turn this into a victory for IS-95 - the future of 3G is now controlled by the co-creator of W-CDMA.
