HOUSTON, March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Tidel Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATMS - news) today announced that according to the 1998 annual statistical report issued this week in Faulkner & Gray's BANK NETWORK NEWS, Tidel retained its position as the fourth largest ATM manufacturer in the United States, and experienced the highest percentage rate of growth among the top four ATM producers. Tidel posted a 33% increase in the number of automated teller machines shipped in calendar year 1998 compared with total shipments for 1997.

''We also expect to open brand new markets with our new Internet Transaction Machine (ITM), the Chameleon. We believe that the Chameleon ITM platform can not only increase Tidel's manufacturing revenues but also allow Tidel to participate in the recurring revenues generated from ITM-based e-commerce. The new product will be available in April 1999, earlier than previously reported,'' he added.
