Yogi,
The article you linked was very interesting to me. I frankly have been an IBM nay sayer in terms of their thrust into breaking up their technologies into self standing businesses. For one thing the people had operated under an umbrella for so long I just felt they would not make a go of it. For another, even if they were ready to be a true OEM supplier I doubted that their long standing competitors would be ready to commit. I continue to hear stories of difficulties at WDC with regard to heads for example. One version of these stories has IBM behaving non responsively. I also would point to previous failed attempts by IBM to be an OEM supplier of components and drives. But I am impressed. And the more I thought about the stories I heard I realized maybe it is just that companies like WDC have pushed their suppliers around so much and for so long they just cannot abide dealing with a powerhouse? (total conjecture here)

I am impressed, as I mentioned, because they are putting some pretty important knotches on their barrel. Thanks again for the link. I would be interested in any comments you have as a result of "catching up" on this venerable company.

Best,
Stitch
