Re: Fred, no I do not work for ALYD, but thank's for giving me an excuse to talk about them in another post.
Why I Like ALYD Andrew recommended this company (on the The Picks thread) when the price was in the low 10s and posted that he believed so much in them that he accumulated even more shares when the price dipped into the mid 9s several weeks ago. I bought in back then and also have been accumulating shares (but only recently at a much higher price) since I know news is imminent (I used the word "know" because the news was leaked by the CEO on a local radio show).
The price of ALYD is now into the 12 range and should go much higher. Yes, I have posted this news to three other threads, and, yes, I stand to make a killing if this stock doubles in price like it should. I hope you would not disparage me and the others who also jumped on the ALYD bandwagon and now also stand to profit. This is, after all, the name of the game, is it not?
Hype vs. Speculation If you have been following the goings-on on another (once) popular thread, you no-doubt are leery of people hyping stocks. What SHOULD make this thread different is that the regulars who post here give FACTS to back up their picks. The LAST thing we want to do is create a hype pyramid where the last people in get screwed when the first people in bail. There are only three ways to prevent this, IMO:
1) Recommend stocks with share prices over $5, preferably higher, that have high volume and tight spreads. (You will see that Andrew's preferred stocks are semiconductor stocks which average $20/share and trade hundreds of thousands if not millions of shares EVERY day.) 2) Recommend stocks that represent solid companies with solid products such that any momentum we may create here on SI (and yes, we have seen that SI hype CAN move a stock) will be self-sustaining as the general stock buying public gets on-board. 3) Recommend stocks on T/A alone. (Granted I don't know diddly about T/A, but at least numbers don't lie-- they just need to be interpreted correctly!)
My personal strategy is to make 5-10% a week trading Andrew's semi-conductor stocks and hope for a home-run with ALYD.
Fred, we Need Your Help In order for any general thread to be successful, we need a good core group of readers to both submit their own stock recommendations and to comment on those of others. We've got a T/A expert in Kevin, a stock-market pundit and former broker in Patrick, a penny stock guru with P. Webster, a home-run speculator with Steve M, a playwright named Big Brother... etc
Remember, Andrew has stated that this is everyone's thread.
Frank, care to share with us your stock recommendations?
