And how welcome would US troops be in 1934 at a time when we were still perceived as being imperialist? What would be the diplomatic ramifications? And how supported at home in the middle of a depression? C'mon, think this through, we got in at exactly the right time. Even in retrospect, we couldn't have done it any differently as far as military. (FDR knew about the camps, but did not allow Jews to immigrate during the depression...obviously this was a mistake but not a military one.)
