Yes, Israel-Iran is hard to believe but I think Doug's comment on the "geopolitical" sense of their relationship is true. Pretty much the number 1 rule of power diplomacy (going back to Bismarck and Metternich and even to ancient Greece) is...

Israel and Iran don't have many PRACTICAL (I don't consider religious fervor to be practical) conflicts (i.e. no borders, no oil reserve disputes, no water rights issues, etc.). Both are happy to see Iraq, Saudi and Syria in trouble. No, it's not a warm relationship. However, it could be described as a cool, pragmatic and surprisingly useful relationship.
