(COMTEX) B: USA Video Interactive Posts New Website Showcasing Techno B: USA Video Interactive Posts New Website Showcasing Technology MYSTIC, CONN. (March 25) BUSINESS WIRE -March 25, 1999--USA Video Interactive (NASD: USVO) (Alberta: US) has posted a thoroughly revised website at www.usvo.com, featuring demonstrations of its new Wavelet Compression Technology, descriptions of its patented Video-on-Demand(TM) technology, descriptions of targeted markets, and an overview of upcoming business plans. The USA Video Interactive Wavelet Compression Technology is shown in slides that contrast it to MPEG compression. A full-motion demonstration of the USA Video Interactive technology is being developed for later inclusion on the website. USA Video Interactive offers its customers the choice of MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 or its new Wavelet Compression Technology, but the website pictures clearly demonstrate why the Wavelet Compression Technology is recommended. The USA Video Interactive Wavelet Compression Technology allows very high levels of compression (up to 1000:1) while retaining much higher resolution than methods used by competitors such as Real Networks (Nasdaq: RNWK), Broadcast.com (Nasdaq: BCST) and others. This allows far more material to be stored on a server or CD-ROM at a significantly lower cost. At the request of the Alberta Stock Exchange, USA Video Interactive is restating that it has begun a pilot program of digitizing the most popular videos in a library of 14,000 educational videos housed at LEARN, which provides technology and other services in Connecticut to six Regional Education Service Centers, 120 schools and more than 49,000 students. There are some 550 similar Regional Education Service Centers throughout the United States. The videos at LEARN and the other Regional Education Service Centers are owned by several companies and licensed to the Centers. USA Video Interactive is in active negotiations with a number of these companies to digitize their educational videos using the USA Video Interactive system. These negotiations are ongoing; details will be announced shortly. The company is moving from research and development to a marketing phase; there currently are no revenues. USA Video Interactive is an international designer and supplier of high-tech Video-on-Demand(TM) systems and services for Internet, Intranet, cable TV, wireless or satellite systems. The USA Video Interactive technology allows users to view streaming video or to access digitized video libraries, including movies, sports, other entertainment, educational resources, corporate training seminars and other archives. The USA Video Interactive technology gives users full-screen video; the unique flexibility of standard, VCR-like controls of play, fast forward, reverse and pause; and the convenience of a standard internet-browser format for access. USA Video Interactive was established in 1989 and has offices in Mystic, Connecticut and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. ---------- USA Video Interactive Corp.
