Frank, cable has pretty much foresaken FTTH.

In the cable world, FTTH is literally interpreted as fiber-to-the-home where the fiber is introduced independently to each home. And the main problems are getting enough fibers into the neighborhood, along with the expense and complexity of performing the optical to electrical conversion and demultiplexing at each home with CPE.

So the closest cable will even consider today is FTTC or fiber-to-the-curb. Do the conversion at the "curb" serving multiple homes (6, 12, 24) and demultiplex there. They don't normally implement that either, what with gargantuan numbers of cost studies over the years proving that HFC is the most cost effective and elegant solution for cable. But I know you already knew this. So not much news here.

My understanding is that new network providers that don't have legacy coax or analog modulation headend equipment in place would consider an FTTH or FTTC architecture and that's what we seem to have with this ClearWorks network.
