Sorry to have been out of touch for so long but among other things, I've been tromping around property in your great country. Just bought some acrage south of Ottawa and will be building up there this spring. I guess this will make me an expatriot of sorts, but I'll only be 30km from the NY State line....if war breaks out.
Now then Rob, as to the $C. Please get your hands on a copy of Forbes Magazine (Dec. 30.96: P.162) for a good little piece on why the $C is a good bet...as well as the govt bond. Yesterday the June $C closed at .7434, confirming 3 complete downward peak/drop cycles since it's last high near .7575 on Jan 19th. Right now I wouldn't consider going long on the $C unless it breaks past the .7480+ range (all comments of my disdain for technical trading -see previous postings- aside). While I still like the upside of the $C....I feel there is currently a better way to play this market...if indeed one wants to play it at all right now.
After I get off of this line I'm going to go over the the Chicago Merc EXchange and see what .75 or .7525 call options are going for. The June option would be goo until 6.6.97 an if they are cheap, I may jump in. I really do believe that the $C will come about, it's a matter of when, and if you are pretty sure that you are dealing with "whens" and not"ifs", you may want to look at the options market.
I'd like to get people talking here again, so let me hear from you when you get a chance. Right now I'm still trying to get over what I'll be paying in GST for the construction of a new home. If they tried that down here, people would be shooting their congressmen and representatives...which is after all, why we decided to keep our guns. By the way, has anybody ever videotaped Cretien to make sure that he is always talking out of the same side of his mouth at all times? I have my doubts. And...one more and I'll go away..I realize that we in the states elect loons to high office all the time, but how in the hell did someone line Shela Copp (sp?) ever get in a position of authority? Is she always that unbalanced or is she just off of her medication?
