Hi Michael, Book value is based on Assets - Debts divided by shares. The $.43 book value is figured very conservatively on what the land that Madera owns(in brazil and peru) was assessed at 5 years ago ($40 an acre), A sawmill, inventory, and other assets.

They have said that they are selling 3/4 of the land they own in brazil and it seems like asking price is $180 an acre now. here is a link that will explain more and give you more links.
