Gil, all profit is a taxable profit. This will be a short term taxable event for me. Don't worry about the government getting the money I've made so far shorting JBOH. I got my head handed to me last year from a "story stock" that I fell in love with and simply could not bring myself to admit that I was wrong about. It's hard to admit one has backed a lame horse. It feels a lot better to me to be on the short side of this one. I have capital losses up the wazoo, whenever I feel like selling to offset cap gains, from a stock I just held on to in to the dust.

I don't think this is a ridiculous gamble- I think that small, no-name on-line brokerages will be outgunned on every front by the big boys. Small is bad, gorilla is good. I also think that I want to be short any on-line brokerage based on Windows NT heading in to Jan 1 2000. Windows... I have learned a lot about the service packs recently. NT is not prepared, yet- and it's awfully close to show time.

Hope you have taken some profits,
