The stern section of the New Carissa is aground about 200 feet offshore near Waldport Oregon. It gets hit by the waves. Since oil has recently been discovered in the stern section, this is of some environmental concern.

The plan at the moment is to dismantle and scrap the ship over the summer. Meanwhile, human scavengers are climbing aboard for souveniers.
