"......The majority of Madera's assets is 708,000 acres of LAND in brazil that has been conservatively carried on the books as $40 an acre. This is a land area larger than Rhode Island. Over 1100 sq miles!! If it was a square, it would be 33 miles on a side......"
david, first i will tell you i am not bashing & hope you will understand that. secondly, this claim is problematic. the brazilian govt., for the past few years, has owned the botanical, timber & mineral rights to the land in the brazilian rainforest. if there is a 'special' circumstance extended to madera that allows them to sell land that the brazialian govt. has sanctions in place that prohibit such a sale , or allows them to harvest it, would you be kind enough to post it here. if there is a law, rule, regulation or misunderstanding, i will defer to what is accurate & true. this release today states that wood was shipped to consumers "from peru", i am assuming that this wood was harvested from company-owned land in peru, since it is against brazils' sanctions on logging in the brazilian rainforest (& a 1,000 mile trip down the amazon river to send wood from brazil to peru! lololol !) have you looked into this matter? i suggest you contact SUFRAMA's head economic consultant, assis monrio, he can explain to you the current sanctions on land ownership in the brazilian rainforest, also the sanctions on harvesting lumber from the brazilian rainforest, or selling land in the brazilian rainforest. again, madera may be a special case & i look forward to hearing their 'agreement' with the brazilian govt.. in the case of aznt, they were the "only american company to EVER be granted 1000 hectacres of plantation due to a long standing relationship. their deed of trust is "irrevokeable". this leads me to my other question you evaded or did not see, where are the plants for their herbal products harvested from? you again mentioned 'dry' , but two of the products named are oils, are you aware of that? who is the 'chemical engineer' madera hired? if madera is manufacturing these herbal products from the brazilian rainforest, do they have an export license? i will accept your responses in good faith, i am not a basher & you do investors a diservice by evading these questions. being a shareholder in a co. manufacturing phytogenic products from the brazilian rainforest with a facility in manaus, i am a little familiar with some of these issues, i.e., sanctions, licenses, etc. thanks in advance & i look forward to your responses.
