Addi: if this be true this truly is a huge plus for SUNW as long as SUNW can keep MSFT to task on sticking with the Java API. This task will be a continuing battle as MSFT tries to slip in various "optimum user experience" bullshit options in implementing "their version" of the Java API so they can market it as the MSFT Java API. In addition, if ActiveX can be converted to Java *.class files it certainly seems that it is just a matter of time before ActiveX dies as there is no compelling reason for new objects to be developed in ActiveX as the Java development tools improve. I imagine MSFT will attempt to market their conversion as the only viable solution to ActiveX conversion, however, recently SUNW announced the intent to embed the COM in the Java Beans component library. This essentually negates any such MSFT marketing effort as long as SUNW is timely and the implementation is well done.

On another note, I have heard rumor of some of the best software developers migrating to SUNW from MSFT based on the exciting new Java technologies. In addition, the inducement to remain at MSFT has been diminished somewhat as the CFO indicated the inability to purchase stock options for employees due to the high price of MSFT stock. If the rumor is true MSFT has more than just a marketing problem, they have a basic brain drain problem that might translate into a longer term problem within the company.
