I don't know who this analyst is, but his recommendation seems to have helped a little:

"Thursday March 25, 12:22 pm Eastern Time

RESEARCH ALERT - General Instrument upgraded

NEW YORK, March 25 (Reuters) - Interstate/Johnson Lane analyst George
Hunt upgraded shares of television, Internet, and data services equipment
maker, General Instrument Corp. (NYSE:GIC - news) to strong buy from
long-term buy on Thursday.

-- Hunt said in a research note: ''General Instrument is currently trading at a
discount to its 1999 price-to-earnings ratio of 30.2 times and three-year earnings per share growth rate of 37
percent (the industry average three-year growth rate is 20.5 percent.) We believe this is a good time to buy shares
of General Instrument stock.''

-- Says the company is growing faster than the industry and ''will maintain this lead in 1999 and continue to grow
faster than the industry.''

-- ''We believe General Instrument will meet or beat our first quarter estimates.''

-- Hunt's EPS estimate for first quarter 1999 are $0.18 on revenue of $500 million, compared to $0.13 during the
same period a year ago."
