"Well IMO, this is completely opposite.. BECAUSE you can not have an
open pit shaped like a "post hole".. Pit walls have to be "laid
back at about 45-50 degrees so they will stand.. You end up with a
cone... so narrow horizontal demensions with a deep vertical demension
results in TREMENDOUS overburden problem if is to be open-pitted.."

????????????????????????????????????????

You rather have them open pit a 100 meter thick interval instead of a 1000 thick interval? That is your logical conclusion! Very funny!

I understand your point of having to lay back the edges of the open pit but your carry your example too for. In this case, they would likely have a steep three sided quarry and not a cone. Overburden on the missing side of the quarry would need to be removed but not the "TREMEDOUS" overburden that you tout to scare people with.

The missing side would likely not be overbuden at all-but actually mostly composed of the surrounding-underlying porphyry ore.

Perhaps you should actually make an attempt to find out what the geologists say about how Lipangue will be mined economically instead of groundless speculations?
