Bill, Obviously the on-line auction business is very profitable relative to the expense. Amazon already has computers, customers, a billing system, staff, etc.... So the incremental cost of adding auctions is low. But the fly in this soup is that champions of these profitless net companies say that first to market is of crucial importance. Now many people own both amzn and ebay. How they will reconcile this, I don't know. Either the auction biz is locked up by ebay, justifying their $20B market cap, or it isn't.
