I realize you addressed this to Nihil, but you wondered about our inability to deprogram war and other distasteful traits. We will have sovereign control over such things when we become proficient genetic engineers. I do not see a heavyhanded simplistic moral engineering situation (like the one outlined in Huxley's Brave New World) to be a real problem. Such a society is static. It will be prey in the bigger picture. The real prize will be determined by a sort of natural (unnatural?!) selection. The fittest societies will survive and prevail, and I can only hope that the fittest and the most human societies can be brought into congruence.
