Well, I have often been wrong about how far momo stocks can run--and I suppose there is a good chance that I am just bitter, being an asthmatic and all and not having bought Sepracor six months ago, sigh.
Still, after a run from 40 to 140 in the last year--now watch it roll over and retrace a third of that.
This company is going to lose a few bucks a share this year, right? It will do better next year, but is still going to lose money for a few more years. Then, in four or five years this thing is going to look terrific. I'll buy some at $80 next fall. Just seems to me you want to sell when the crowd is interested, and accummulate stocks that nobody cares about--that's why I'm mucking down in third tier--for now...no hype in the stuff I own, so a good chance my darts are hitting cheap targets.
Actually, I'm sure I will do fine. There is going to come a time in the next few years when the market will be going to hell, gold will be the only thing to buy, and a great panic will be on the markets. At that time in one swoop I'm going to be putting 10k each into ten biotech stocks. Until then, I just make a lot of noise here on SI, and further refine my list. You can be sure Sepracor is on that list.
I suppose there is a chance that SEPR is not too big to get taken out...I always imagine that the micros and small stocks are the ones that will be bought out. But even the 1-10B dollar biotechs can get gobbled up by big pharma...that is just now starting to sink in on me. I may have to change my strategy, we shall see. |
