That's very confident Dan,

I have little doubt that within a short while, all of the cell-phone
chips (900 Mhz band that is) will be in CMOS or GCMOS. GaAs
transistors may be a little nicer for the analog circuits, but
it is cheaper and cleaner to make it all with one semiconductor and
preferably all on one die, and there already are CMOS digital
circuits on the back end of cell phones. Real soon now you'll
see all CMOS cell phones. From the engineering point of view
it's a no-brainer.

That said GaAs demand will continue to increase, but its increase
will be in other products. Most notably digital fiber-optic links,
Look at the last product announcements from VTSS,ORTL, UNPH. They're
all about 2.5 gb/s communication links. VTSS is a great company
I'm looking to get at 44-45 with little doubt of their future,
but I don't think that it is in cell phones, at least not until
cell phones go to higher frequencies.
