Hi Steve,

wlana.com

explains FH and DS spread spectrum.

Glenayre uses lots of MHz to squeeze in 100Mbps, while IEEE
and ETSI are trying to standardize 20MHz channelization. Glenayre
hasn't described the details of their modulation enough to answer
your questions. ETSI and IEEE are standardizing up to 54Mbps as
an option involving 64QAM and rate 7/8 coding. Some optimists think
256QAM would give 100Mbps under benign conditions.

RadioLAN used their UWB modulation across all three 100MHz
sub-bands to achieve their 100Mbps.
