Splits are irrelevant ... do you actually believe that!!??
Although logic is on your side, the empirical data show that you are dead wrong. Now is that because companies that do well and split their stock, tend to continue to do well... maybe. I can tell you that TLAB stock has tended to dip a while after splits. I can't explain that either. I can't make an argument that explains WHY stocks that split tend to outperform... but I am not so blind to ignore there IS a real correlation
(btw, I am not one of those who invest in a stock simply because of an upcoming split... I've read some post from very disappointed RECENT Lucent shareholders... I have been in TLABs for 8 years or so and know, if ask to vote on approving a stock split, there is ONLY one CORRECT answer and THAT tells me anyway that they are hardly irrelevant!)
