As I understand it, it is not that easy to write the software for another operating system. That is the reason why Socket is sticking to CE. I visited the CeBIT fair in Germany earlier this week. I feel pretty confident that the CE operating system is about to gain a stronger momentum. This is driven by several factors. One factor is the interest from the hardware manufacturers in general. Secondly, the release of new devices like for example color palm-size devices from players like Casio, Philips and Compaq and thirdly the very efficient way the Microsoft organization is having other to support the software and develop applications to it. CE 3.0 is rumored to come out in the end of this year and every new version is better than the previous. These factors together I believe will eventually make the CE to gain significant ground compared to Palm and PSION. If we assume this is about to happen, I find the market cap of Socket to be very low.
