Mad-Ass Speculation About WaveCommerce...
Oh, well, having been inexplicably roused from my month-long stupor, I thought I'd join the general cogitatin' re: the WaveCommerce thingy.
I do think that part of our WAVX's destiny is to enable microtransactions and content distribution for a mega-portal or two. Just seems to make sense. All the portals--mere portals, alas--are scrambling for new sources of income and competitive differentiation. (The whole portal concept is now under great scrutiny, by the way. Some wags are calling it a dead concept. But, that's kind of what wags do, right?)
Here's something that we would be mighty awesome. Scenario: some major recording artist or another or some author like John Grisham decides to NOT re-up the label or publisher contract. Instead decides to take their brand and name to a MAJOR PORTAL--as part of an exclusive content arrangement--who just so happens to be able to sell their works by the chapter or by the downloaded song. Terrific source of income for the artist (or The Artist), big eyeballs for the portal, and a little vig for those boys in Lee. Just a stray thought.
Best Regards,
