Joe, pcAnywhere 32 (v8.0) and DSL get along well. A couple of my Bay Area clients put in PacTel ADSL recently. When I dial in its like being there.

Set the "Connection Info" to "TCP/IP" and "Settings, Network Host IP Address" to their static IP address. Set the login name and password then click on the icon and you're ready to rock and roll.
