Melissa 'Email VIRUS'? Huh?

I read this article this morning, and immediately thought "hoax"

excite.com

It's about an "email virus" that effects microsoft based corporate networks. According to the article, it is just a macro imbedded in a Word document. Trojan Horse, not Virus! That, I can believe.

The Trojan Horse sends bulk emails to the top 50 people in your outlook express address book. For me, that would be zero, because we use Msft Exchange Mail. I thought "hoax" again, but then recalled that the recent Explorer upgrade at work cluttered my hard disk with a copy of OutlookExpress (what I immediately "recycled" after determining no core OS functionality had been wrapped in to it.). The macro adds YOUR name to the "from:" line- so it would not be foolish to open the word document--

still skeptical, but if this sort of thing is true, it will make macs look more viable in Corporate.

Gotta go
