Hi lml, that may sound good in theory, but you may want to consider the following (I don't know details of your connection or setup, so these are general comments):

--Few sites use IP address as a tracking mechanism. Cookies are the more prominent mechanism. What are you doing about cookies? Using any blocking software or doing any cookie administration yourself? (This is actually an interesting topic that might be worthy of discussion since cookies are used and abused so often).

--The hardware MAC address (if applicable) is a fixed and unique identifier which can be read. Telco modems also have a unique identifier.

--There are name fields you provide when installing/registering software that can be read by remote command. I don't know much about the specifics here, other than on returning to a site where I entered no information, I was prompted with "welcome back d horne" which is the way I always enter registration parameters for software. Maybe someone else knows the details here.

--Do you know what your DHCP lease durations are? weeks? months?

--Do you monitor you IP address so that you're certain that new leases aren't actually just renewals of the old lease with the same IP address?
