Thanks for the update. However, if WINCOM has only two computers simulating meter and base, I am concerned. Wireless data transfer between two computers is a relatively simple feat, and pretty much just requires a wireless modem set to the appropriate frequency. Translation into a working meter incorporating wireless technology with error correction techniques for field application, along with other signal-to-noise problems and neighboring interference issues, means there is a long way to go. And these are just technical aspects. Business aspects include financing development, testing, and production of the meter and base station, and installation. Does anyone know if WINCOM has made significant progress along these lines?

Washington (D.C.) Gas installed a wireless meter in my house last week. It has a battery cell about half the size of a box of Cracker Jacks that should last 5-7 years. Anyone have any news along these lines about Ameritech.

We all want this investment to work out. At this point, I'm not too encouraged by the lack of news of fundamental progress. I'm a little confused as to why a company would invest so much to aquire a national footprint and then do little with it (this is the impression I think some of us a getting due to lack of news).
