Please disregard my previous question about Intel videphones. CMP is a great site for information about the videophone market. I found another article that answers my previous question about Intel phones. They have lower cost versions, depending on your hardware setup:

But here's there real interesting stuff I found. I located some competitors. Neoparadigm will soon start to market videophones. They bypassed ISDN in favor of POTS as a future growth area:

8x8, another competitor is already shipping products. They've been posting some losses, but in a recent news release, they report sales quadrupled last Christmas compared to the previous year:

The impression I'm getting is that the videophones over POTS is not yet a full blown market, but there are definitely some developments going on in this sector. Now if we can only get some official word from Datapower...
