This implies that it is a key patent and that they have a fair amount of expertise in it. The technique described in the patent is similar to the technique used in MPEG (Frame is broken up into blocks which are transformed using a DCT. High frequency stuff is not sent. Off the top of my head, if I remember correctly it also describes a basic method for interframe compression, but of that I am less sure.) Clark PS Long time no see. Haven't been in CUBE in a long long time. PPS A while ago I asked on the CUBE thread if anyone knew how processing intensive MPEG decompression and compression was. How many transistors does a decompression chip have? A compression chip? Do you know?
