Indeed, the Serb leaders are hated in most European places. As the Europeans really wanted to solve this "conflict" without aggression for years but poorly failed in doing so, Mr. Milosevic doesnt't understand a different language than bombing Beograd.

I hope I'm wrong somehow, but I have serious doubts that bombings alone will solve matters. I can only think of one occasion where a bombing campaign decided anything and that was called Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Even now the reports of Serb atrocities continue in defiance of the strikes. Clinton may have declared his non-intention to send in ground forces, but at this point I don't see how we're going to avoid having to take that dreaded next step eventually.

Even so, the US army as it was under Bush might well have been able to clean this up in 100 hours. I just hope six years under the Clinton administration's merry band of peaceniks and social scientists haven't damaged our military too badly.
