As to the basic information about the company:
Viasoft, Inc. provides business solutions that help organizations worldwide understand, manage, evolve, reuse, transition and modernize mission-critical applications that support their fundamental business processes. For the six months ended 12/31/98, total revenues rose 1% to $55 million. Net loss totalled $5.6 million vs. an income of $8.8 million. Results reflect broader professional services offered, offset by a $5 million write-off of acquired R&D and a $4.8 million restructuring charge.

The decrease is primarily a result of the cost of the Systemhouse acquisition (See Note 2 of Notes to Consolidated Financial Statements), CASH USED IN OPERATIONS AND THE SHARE PURCHASES UNDER THE COMPANY'S STOCK REPURCHASE PROGRAM.
