JF - They'd still need encoders, right? Seems like a funny side-line for Qcom unless it wanted the experience for something else. But maybe worldwide movie distribution is a big market?

Any thoughts? Does anyone know the bandwidth of CDMA?

Given Qualcomm's history and their patents in this area my guess is that they will build their own encoders and decoders, although it probably depends on the size of the market. As for CDMA, it is largely tangential to Cinecomm. IMO they will probably not use CDMA for transmission (there are lots of ways to provide security without CDMA), and the features of CDMA that are really unique are probably not needed in this case. Just FYI.
