Rand, of course nothing is wrong with making profits from managing anything the government wants outsiders to manage. But, I for one am not attracted to this field at all.

On economic base, crime declines in good economic time, thus this is not particularly a growth industry.

On the "moral" side, I do not mind making money on people's perception that they can buy security with alarm systems etc., but managing prisons, when the time comes to cut costs, where do you go, less food? clean clothes only once a month rather than weekly? Cut the light off an hour earlier to save on the electrical bill? Keep the tempearutre at 50 F in winter to save on heating bills? It is not like a hospital whereas, if the service is not good you let your friends now and they'll shun the place...

There are too many possible openings for sadistic people to use money I would invest for their own satisfaction. This is one area which I do not think I absolutely have to have in my folio (VBG).

Good luck, anyhow.
