Book dealers/writers must hate me.

I now own a total of 6 stock books but have read at least 50 books. I usually go to Chapters or McNally once every week or two, grab a coffee and the latest book and sit on the nice couches they provide and read. 10 years of University has turned me into a speed reader and I can now finish off a 300-500pg book in around under 4-5hrs.

Of course I liked Dr Elders books but refuse to pay $80-100 for 200pgs (I know the price is high because of people like me but it is a dog eat dog world). I can recommend "Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets" by Murphy. Great book for learning the fundamentals of TA. A bit expensive at $100 but there is a lot of info in its 550pgs. I have a couple of Prings books on TA but would suggest Murphy's book first.

However in the past year the amount of information that has appeared on the net is incredible. The information on the Web is often more up to date then books plus it is free. I presently have a couple of years of reading bookmarked and everytime I read an hour I end up bookmarking another 2 hours of reading.

I would suggest you read every article bookmarked in the TA section of
hardrightedge.com
Most of the links from
allstocks.com
and just to round it off the education center from
smotass.net to get you up and running in the futures/option market

I have already read all of the above and there is more information in those pages than all of the books I have read.

For someone trying to learn the basics from scratch I would recommend
virtual-u.com

Best Regards
KEITH
