Re "Because it's a service which operates at a loss"

I'm afraid I didn't know that.

It would seem to me that it shouldn't operate at a loss -
a) it works over the existing copper wiring,
b) the hardware at the telco office can't be all that expensive,
c) the backbone bandwidth costs can be reduced by caching,
and d) I'm sure many users would be prepared to pay more than #10/month for the system.

You haven't addressed my thoughts about the company having to
move into new areas. How long can a growing company be based on
clock speed? How long can you continue to base your business on
tests such as "AMD has just announced a 733 Mhz K7, let's counter
with a Celeron at 766 Mhz".

I hope that the company has made sure that the IA-64 instruction set
is private property and not subject to cloning. DOes anyone know if this is true?
