Qualcomm is the leader in CDMA wireless technology. I believe Ericsson has more of the more traditional TDMA stuff. CDMA is theoretically superior and will eventually win out over TDMA - but that will take decades before clear dominance is achieved. Ericsson, despite their clear size advantage, has been playing catch up in CDMA. Qualcomm has a very extensive CDMA patent portfolio. I'm not an expert but have followed the wireless players for several years. There is a lot of excellent Internet and wireless technology that is being developed in the SanDiego/Carlsbad area. The warm climate suits the spirit of the Internet?

I'll have a look at LWIN. Time to review the sector. I think when this Y2K thing is out of the way and ASIA is back on its feet, wireless will be put into high gear. I think wireless has now reached "critical mass" on the price/volume curve to kick butt against wired line services. Also, several standards and support technologies and production capabilities are in place sufficiently to make it a killer technology for a broad range of applications from local wireless LANS to local access service for the internet to enhanced data PCS and up to satellite communications systems. By 2001 there will be another few hundred billions freed up to spend on Internet and communications Infrastructure. The age of communications is finally here - the computer is dead (as THE THING): Long live the communications era!
