brianh, Motorola failed to get their ASICs and handsets going back in 1995 when the launched Hong Kong and Q! rescued them with the first lot of Q! handsets. Last year when Motorola finally gave up trying to get their own handsets going, they used Pantech to do it for them and that was using Q! ASICs. As far as I know, Motorola is still fully using Q! ASICs but maybe they've moved on with making their own handsets instead of subcontracting.

Q! is the only game in town for decent ASICs at the moment. VLSI is talking of producing one later this year. Nokia gave up. Ericy is just starting. I suppose others are battling away but Q! is moving fast.

VLSI activities here. Notice the quote that competitors to Q! are barely getting their ASICs out the door and VLSI aiming at later in the year.
