Rocky, I think you are on to something here CUBE/DIVI wants to provide solutions for this market With such advances, C-Cube Microsystems Inc. projects that unit shipments of set-top boxes will grow from 6 million in 1997 to 33 million in 2001. techstocks.com:80/~wsapi/investor/reply-8558168 Compare this to the data for Cable modems.. techstocks.com:80/~wsapi/investor/reply-8459687 Cable modem sales increased by 130 percent in 1998 according to a recent study by market research firm, Dataquest, which will lead to an installed base of 5.2 million units by 2002. The Strategis Group, another market research firm, predicts a customer base of 9.1 million homes by 2003. CUBE already will be a solution provider for the Mediaone set top. Most Cable data bandwidth companies are not making money yet, or not much,....... Originally I bough the CUBE for DVD, but now I'm going to keep them for DIVI and the opportunity above. I hope this first Open cable win gets them some more cable customers, or at least generates some serious interest at the upcoming NAB! Seems CUBE's two way capability is finally becoming a selling point for them. I'd like to see the look of the graphics with AVIA's flicker filter also..... Renaming the set top an internet appliance should help boost valuation- people need to see some of these new devices before they make the connection.
