The last sentence of the ECN Article says...
"In other words, for ECNs, the resulting stampede for the exits could make the 1987 crash look like a day at the beach." My question is.... OPPOSED TO WHAT?? Are they saying that if you trade TRADITIONALLY or use systems such as E-Trade and/or route orders to traditional MMs.... that you would be in a BETTER circumstance in a selloff? Come on! IMO you'd be screwed WAY worse. What am I missing? They seem to be knocking ECN's so investors will stay where they are, when in reality I believe ECN's to be the quickest way to get in OR OUT of a stock. Also if you have access to an ECN, then can't you route to whoever? (traditional mms?) Opinions? (I mean how would a traditional broker get your order filled the quickest? BY DIRECT ROUTING!)
