Tom, "You forgot PCS PrimeCo". I think your correct. PCS PrimeCo launched CDMA commercially November 12, 1996, followed shortly by Sprint PCS on December 16, 1996. Sprint's affiliate APC had launched "Sprint Spectrum" PCS 1900 (GSM) service on November 15, 1995. By the time Sprint PCS launched, 5 PCS 1900 (GSM) networks were commercially operational in the US (APC Sprint Spectrum, Western Wireless, Bell South Mobility, Pacific Bell, Omnipoint). Sprint (and CDMA) caught up quickly, overcoming the GSM "time to market advantage). Last November, Julian Herbert of EMC reported the following subscriber figures for North America through 2nd Quarter end 1998 (source link below). GSM-1900 = 2.04 million TDMA-800/1900 = 5 million CDMA-1900 = 2.04 million CDMA-800 = 1.3 million Total CDMA = 3.3 million pcsdata.com - Eric -
