Well, speaking for myself, and to both Edwarda and Steven, and choosing to speak a little seriously for a change, I'll say that I don't think grammar is unimportant, and clarity is certainly not, and there is a direct connection between grammar and clarity; and this is setting aside the esthetics of language; but that I do think the rebukes on this thread are all in good fun, and are elements in a game we play.

I'll go further and say that I believe grammar is important for reasons that make 'rebuking' people-- seriously-- for their deficiencies in that area an ethical lapse that derives from a philosophical error.

I have friends whom I love and respect whose grammar is poor and hearts are good. I have no friends who are 'nice' in their grammar but not nice in their natures whom I give a fig about. That's an anecdotal explication of part of my point.

P.S. I prefer the sentence that ends with 'about' to the alternative version that would end with 'fig'!
