I don't think anyone should be surprised by the states' demands. I think they might end up screwing up the DOJ's whole case. Up until now Boies and the DOJ have done great in the courtroom. I sure hope for the DOJ that these states (with their hidden motives) don't start controlling the settlement talks. If they do, I don't Judge Jackson will be too happy about having to give a verdict on the case and then the remedies. I think everyone knows that a verdict and remedies won't stick too far in the courts. The remedies will not be far reaching if court ordered. The appeals etc. are going to overturn one thing or another.
I think it is all going to play into Microsoft's plans.
