dave-that is a very naive view.first,no one i know tries to mark positions down besides it would be too hard .bears have little ammo vs bulls and there is the uptick rule.it is very easy for big funds to mark them up though.as far a losing investors most private funds only have a couple times a year that people can exit the fund so that too is a a non starter.(in my case specifically if i had an opening i would be getting money NOT seeing flow out.)i find it laughable that anyone would show their total ignorance of how things work with a silly post like that.maybe you can forward this to whomever posted that bit of drivel .thanks bill
