To GMullineaux:

Oops-- that post should have said faster than "speed of light fiber", not just "speed of light". No, you haven't been asleep for 1,000 years. I just forgot to put the word fiber in. The reason LEO transmission from the LEO in orbit is faster than fiber-- on paper (and I stress on paper)-- is because light travels faster through space (less gravity) than it does on earth (where fiber is). The effect is imperceptible to the end user.

The notion of satellite transmission for AOL content is a few years off, but it is something of which to be aware in the meantime. It will be occurring in the next three-four years in the areas where fiber and copper cannot reach, and, as I suggested, additive to AOL's numbers in a material way.
