There is a list of specific stocks.EBAY,AMZN,XCIT,CMGI,BCST,LCOS, GMGI,UBID,ABTL,MINE,CPTH,PROO,IPTX,ONEM. All require 100% margin to the best of my knowledge. I don't know if they're lending any of the non-IPOs for shorting.

The IPO's usually come off within a few days.

Ah, but these web brokers are going for economy of scale. If I had enough money to negotiate away these restrictions, I'd much rather negotiate a short rebate. <g>

Believe it or not, it's probably better for the health of the stock to not have a bunch of gamblers margined to the gills. I know I feel better holding my BCST in the type 1 account.
