Vic or RB: How does this WSJ article from 2/21/97 impact FTEL? Is FTEL the hardware supplier????

Worldcom to Update UUNet's Network, Investing $300 Million. FAIRFAX, VA: Telecommunications carrier Worlcomm said it would invest $300 Million in its internet-access subsidiary, UUNet to upgrade the unit's data network into one of the internet's fastest arteries.
Already one of the largest internet-based networks, serving more than 50,000 businesses, UUNet plans to quadruple its data transmission speed. People familiar with UUNet's plan said it will increase the number of data modems used in its network to more than 300,000 from 80,000.
The upgrade would give UUNet extra network capacity that has been i short supply in recent months as demand from computer users for internet access continues to explode. Since December, subscribers to AOL have hit busy signals due to a paucity of network capacity as they tried to dial into the service Other internet providers are experiencing a similar transmission crunch.
"Everybody has been caught with their pants down" said John Sidgmore, Pres & CEO of UUNet, which provides the underlying network for the Microsoft Network, one of AOL's biggest competitors. The opportunity to lure new customers is enormous," he added "because everyone esle is out of capacity.
Mr Sidgmore, who is also Worldcomm's COO, said the $300 Million investment wouldn't have a negative impact on earnings.
Thanks to RB, Vic, Doug, et al for their tireless efforts!!
