EBAY.TOAST!? SHOULD I SELL? IS THERE A GOD TO SAVE MY SORRY EBAY SHAREHOLDER ASS?

Christ! Thanks for the official word, Randy. I can't believe it. Even though I was posting my total conviction that AMZN was going to jump in, I'm still surprised to find out the official word immediately afterwards. AMZN's board is buzzing on fire. Why's it so quiet here? IS IT BECAUSE EVERYONE'S BAILING OUT?

Now, waitasecond here. I'm just overreacting with my Caps lock routine here. But really, are we looking at an easy double-digit loss for Ebay's open? Unlike most Net stocks, whose competitors move in tandem within the subsectors, I think AMZN will bolt out of the gate and Ebay nosedive.

But some anticipation of this had to be factored into the price. Like my earlier ominous posting, I said this was totally a no-brainer for Amazon to go into. Guess what, they can now easily justify their lofty valuations.

I'm still pondering if I should sell on a short-term basis and then maybe reconsider after initial market jitters subside. But it'll be old news by open, when all the sellers raise hell. And I am a longterm buy'n'hold fool anyway. Or maybe it'll be a sunny day for Ebay shareholders after all. It's past midnight here on the East Coast. Pleasant dreams, Ebay shareholders. Don't let the bogeyman eat you.

Apparently you are correct -- not a rumour any longer.

eBay has a real competitor now:
