I haven't noticed any difference when booting up the computer. When first installing a second card I found that the newest card had to go on the number one screen, the other to the second screen. Booting is all done on primary screen then other screens indicate that they are receiving the signal, at which point the background is the same as screen one. In other words I just turn the computer on or off as normal.( By adapters I assume you mean video cards?)
Hope this helps.
